Like so many things in the modern world, we can lose sight of
why we do what we do. We replace caring for our livestock, the earth, and each other with purple banners, bigger barns and trailers, and buying our way to ‘happiness.’
At Timmons Feed, we want to be part of passing on the gift and legacy of livestock to the next generation.
That’s why we are starting our youth development program Feed Success.
We want to hear your stories. A new skill you learned, a hard struggle you overcame, or a way you used your livestock to bless others. We encourage our 4-H age customers to submit a paragraph or two, along with a few photos. Maybe you learned to trim hooves for the first time, built a new fence with your grandpa, or gave eggs to someone in need. We want to hear how raising livestock has
grown you for the good! Applications will be reviewed by a panel of respected customers who are generously donating their time.
2 students will be selected from each age category (grades 3-6, 7-12) to be awarded some awesome Timmons Feed gear AND $100 to use in the store!!
(Parents- we want this to be a kid project, not a parent project!!! Let them use their own ideas, words, and thoughts, we like it better that way anyways! 😊)
Also, stay tuned for more details on our Feed Success night during the Boone County Fair!
Thank you for sharing your Feed Success story!
"One day I was at the barn and I was being really impatient with my pigs.... I learned that there are many ways to solve a problem. Doing it your own way may not be the answer."
"This year at my school we had an Ag day where the whole elementary came over and learned about agriculture... normally I’m scared to talk to other people but teaching kids and adults about goats has definitely brought me out of my shell."
"At the start of the year, I could not do it well. With my white gilt, she is stubborn to drive and only likes to turn one direction. So, I had to keep on practicing with her every night until we became a team."
"This year, I am happy to say that there is one new member and a Mini 4-Her who have joined, hopefully, with the help of my demo last year introducing pigeons to my poultry club in 4-H, and I hope it continues to grow in years to come. "
